Trisha Todoruk-Harvey is a Clay Artist with primary focus on Clay Wall Murals and Mixed Media. She has taught several workshops and community Art Classes for children and adults within the last number of years including The Banff Centre and the Town of Banff. She worked as Assistant Artistic Director for an Art Camp for children and youth where she planned, implemented and conducted the Arts Program. The majority of Trisha's work is hand built and slab thrown. She uses a stoneware clay with a sandy or groggy texture and the pieces that she creates are low fired and smoked in a sawdust filled barrel. This creates an abstract and earthy effect. She enjoys the combination of color and contrast and to achieve this she applies several variations of oxides and acrylic washes to sections of each mural. The entire process of creating a finished mural includes several steps from beginning to end. She works in series and so far the work has followed an environmental and organic theme ranging from mountainscapes, tropical plants and flowers to simplistic Asian flair. Clay is a medium that allows her to explore form, texture and surface design.

My work is about diversity with a primary focus on experimentation and playfulness. The work ranges from non-functional abstract figures to clay wall murals and sculpture. I am attracted to variation in color and contrast and therefore much of my work is low fired in Raku and Primitive firings where I am able to achieve these results. With my forms, I strive for a combination of control and spontaneity. Each piece possesses its own distinct character yet maintains a style similar to one another. Clay is a medium that allows me to explore form, texture and surface design.
